I'm celebrating Thanksgiving this year in Virginia Beach with my new husband and my official new family!
Chris and I have been together for over 5 years now and visiting his family has always felt right and comfortable, so to say they're my new family is not really true. From the beginning they've loved and accepted me, and me them. But it is really nice to feel even more connected.
So on this beautiful weekend I'm celebrating a few things. Being newly married is one thing, but more importantly it's the promises we made to each other to offer support as the years go on.
I also posted my 100th recipe on The Almond Flower! When I started the blog I simply had to put something in motion to get my voice out there and connect with other people dealing with Celiac disease. Looking back on the years, it gets harder to jump in to the things that interest me and I'm so glad that I started small and have kept at it.
And I'd also like to share a new pursuit: PeacockMercantiles.etsy.com. There are so many things that I'm interested in, I teach elementary art full time and really put being creative and artistic on the back burner. So I've committed to making things that I love and ETSY is a perfect forum to post and hopefully sell them!
I was able to walk on the beach this morning, arriving in Virginia Beach without hitting any traffic (even that is enough to be thankful for!) and the fresh air, breeze and sound of the waves was intoxicating. Watching Clover (our loving tripod dog) bull doze sandcastles and chase seagulls made us laugh for a good five minutes and left me feeling so happy.
That is the thought I'd like to end on today. Having some time off work to get away and get back to yourself is something we often forget to do. Taking the time to relax and be happy is so wonderful, I hope everyone has a chance to do it today, or at least some time soon.
