A Sunday in Eastern Market

Have you been to  Eastern Market lately?  It's located in Capitol Hill.

We like to visit when we need to get away, but don't want to go for one of our long country drives.  Dogs are allowed and there's something for everyone.

Make sure to visit the flea market, I really want a refinished dresser and last year bought a beautiful painting.

Stroll through the booths of vendors in the street and yard.  We passed an artist talking about collecting plants and fruits when he was a young boy in Jamaica and making all of his paints naturally.  I'm thinking of going back soon and buying a hand-made key hook for our wall and these really pretty stone earrings.

Once you make it around the corner you'll see the various food tents.  There's always a long line for the crepe stand and there's a new guy selling wraps full of Indian food, yummy.  For the gluten free among us, there are flavored nuts, home-made pickles and fresh pressed OJ.

There's also a farmer's market full of fresh produce, this is my favorite time of year to buy bosc pears and apple cider.  We also picked up a mixed box of spicy peppers and kale to make a turkey chili that afternoon.

Have a great weekend!
